The film kicks off with a devastating blow: Krishnan (Suriya), a loving husband and father, loses his battle with throat cancer. His son, Suriya (also Suriya)-now a captain in the Indian Army on a high-stakes rescue mission-receives the news and embarks on a mental journey through his past.
What follows is a gorgeous, non-linear coming-of-age story. We witness Suriya’s childhood in a warm, middle-class household, fiercely protected by his mother Malini (Simran). We watch him fall hopelessly in love at first sight with Meghana (Sameera Reddy) on a train ride, pursuing her all the way to the United States. But when unspeakable tragedy strikes, Suriya spirals into a dark abyss of depression and drug abuse. Through the unwavering support of his father, a grueling journey of physical self-reclamation, a stint in the military, and the quiet, persistent love of his childhood friend Priya (Divya Spandana), Suriya learns what it truly means to be Krishnan’s son.
