The plot is exactly as bonkers as the synopsis suggests. The Minions, fresh off their Hollywood takeover (after being discovered by a clueless talent agent voiced by Bobby Moynihan), become the biggest movie stars on Earth. They’re making bank, riding yachts, and turning every red carpet into a banana-peel slip fest. But fame is fleeting, kids. A rival studio - run by the hilariously cynical producer Max (Christoph Waltz), who sounds like he’s reading a contract while sipping a martini - sabotages them with a cursed script. That script? It literally opens a portal to a dimension of monsters.
Cue the title. The Minions accidentally unleash a parade of cuddly-looking but destructive creatures (think Gremlins meets Coraline), and they have to team up with a cranky yet lovable monster named Goomi (voiced by South Park’s Trey Parker, who brings all the deadpan sarcasm you’d expect) to save the world. Oh, and Allison Janney plays Olivia, a government scientist who’s both exasperated and amused by the whole ordeal. Jeff Bridges shows up as Frank/Elwood, a washed-up action star with a heart of gold, and Jesse Eisenberg’s Dort is the hyper-anxious tech guy who keeps yelling about "the structural integrity of the portal." Zoey Deutch’s Debbie is the true MVP - a no-nonsense assistant who does all the heavy lifting while everyone else panics.
