He-Man Strikes Again: ‘Masters of the Universe’ Movie Smashes Box Office and Gets Sequel Greenlit
By the power of Grayskull, the live-action Masters of the Universe has officially become a juggernaut. Since its June 19 premiere, director Travis Knight’s Amazon MGM epic crossed $415 million worldwide - $185 million domestic and $230 million international - as of July 26, 2026. Kyle Allen’s He-Man brings both nostalgia and fresh energy to the big screen, proving audiences still love Eternia.
That momentum didn’t fade. At San Diego Comic-Con on July 23, Amazon MGM dropped a thunderbolt: a sequel is officially greenlit. Travis Knight will return to direct, with script development kicking off in August 2026. Fans at SDCC erupted, and the announcement cemented the film’s status as a franchise cornerstone. Missed the theatrical cut? It’s still streaming on Prime Video - and for Morena Baccarin’s Sorceress alone, it’s worth a rewatch.

Netflix’s ‘The Next Generation’ Powers Up for Season 2
While Kyle Allen rules the live-action realm, Chris Pratt claims the animated throne. In Masters of the Universe: The Next Generation - set 20 years after Revelation - Pratt voices an older, wiser He-Man, while Lena Headey brings chilling depth to Evil-Lyn. The 10-episode first season dropped March 15, 2026, and quickly became a Netflix hit, drawing 22.5 million households globally in its first 30 days.
Netflix ordered a second season on July 12, premiering in Q1 2027. The show expands the mythos beautifully, exploring what happens when a new generation inherits the fight for Eternia. Pratt’s performance layers weight and humor, and Headey’s Evil-Lyn is already a fan favorite. Craving more after the movie? This series is the perfect follow-up.

From Toys to Comics: The Franchise Surge Continues
The Masters of the Universe wave isn’t limited to screens - it’s sweeping stores and comic shelves. The Walmart-exclusive He-Man & Battle Cat 2-pack ($49.99, released July 1) and Target’s Power Attack Skeletor ($34.99, June 15) flew off shelves. At SDCC, the Mattel booth’s “Faker Ghost-Goblin” exclusive ($39.99) sold out in just 15 minutes.
Comics are crushing it too. Meanwhile, World He-Man Day on July 16 raised $2.3 million for children’s hospitals via a global charity stream on Prime Video.
